As we age, routines develop because they save us time and use less brain power when we rely on them.
Habits and routines can streamline our lives and conserve mental energy. However, it's crucial to maintain a balance, develop and practice healthy habits, and avoid falling into rigid patterns.
Healthy habits can expand our creative capacity. Negative habits constrict it.
Self-reflection can help. Be intentional about your routines and periodically assess their effectiveness. Make a point to occasionally venture outside your comfort zone by intentionally breaking your routine to stimulate your mind.
Identify unhealthy habits by evaluating their impact on sleep patterns, mood, and mental and physical well-being. Check in with family and friends, as you may not know how your regular habits may impact them.
